1 Sand Animation Art Entertainment The video itself I thought was very well done. It was original and was like nothing I've ever seen. When you look at it in more depth past the fact that it was "cool" or "unique", its actually emotional, the way she puts so much energy and passion into what shes doing, and the pictures shes creating makes it hard for the video to not have and affect on you in some way. The whole video was new to me, and like nothing I've ever seen. It was really artistic and had a lot of unique points of intrest in it. I learned that art is not just painting a picture, or taking photos, but it can be something much more than that, and still be considered art. The lasting impression the video had on me was the emotions displayed in the video, and how art can really affect the way people feel.
2 Sand Art video of a show, mutlmedia showing I loved it. It was one of the coolest things i've seen. I wish i had talent like her. She did such a good job. I would love to see more of her work in the future. The way she flowed the pictures into each other was beauitful. She used the music to guide her pictures. I've never seen someone use sand in such a beautiful way. Blending the music in with the pictures was such a cool way to express art. How talented people can use simple things like sand to make a gorgeous pictures and depict ideas. I love simple art that expresses history or the beautiful things in life. I enjoyed watching this video. I still wish i could learn how to do this kind of art. She is a great artist and using such a simple thing to creat such detailed art in such a short time is amazing.
3 Sand Animation film performance of sand animation I really liked the video. It showed how just simply using light and sand can create such wonderful pieces of art. It liked how she could make one scene and than change it into a while different scene. I never thought that you could create art with sand and lights. It is very unique and it amazed me what she could do with such little supplies. I think the scenes also had a lot to do with her culture because it made a lot of people emotional. I think this makes me appreciate art a little more because I really enjoyed this type of art because it is so different than the other art you normally see around. I think that she really used her imagination and creativity to do this type of work. I think that the video showed how this art was not only important to the artist but also to the audience. Some of the women get emotional in the video. It seems to be very important and has a good lasting impression on people. I was very impressed.
4 Sand Animation Live Art I have to admit that the presentation surprised me. I didn't break down and cry like some of the people in the audience of that clip, but I was moved by the art form, the presentation of the pictures she was creating, and the music. Well, I have to say the art form itself impressed me. I didn't even know that anyone even did that. The speed and artistry of the presentation stunned me. I also have to say that the images and the metallic music set to orchestra (or just violin?) suprised me as well. It was the perfect combination. I learned that even the slighest moves can have a major effect. It showed the value of forward thinking and visualization and about having a light touch. Again, the speed and qualitvisualizationn's skill was just amazing. To be able to pull that off, with such practiced ease in front of a crowd and TV audience is more than impressive. It is rare for words to fail me, but they are right now. this is twice that we have seen a video with Metallica involved. Are you a fan of the band, or is it just happy coincidence?
5 Kseniya Simonova - Sand Animation Historical I love sand animation. Before this class I have seen in it done in person at a Cirque Soleil performance. The important points that impressed me was the fact that she was telling Russian history. It was amazing how quickly she transformed one scene to another. Art comes in many different forms and each piece is always special and unique. I have always appreciated art but this style of art really hit home run. I think that sand animation is a unique talent and not many people can do it but there are the individuals out there. The one thing that lingers in my head is how the artist comes up with the pictures for the next scene. My overall impression is that I absolutely love sand animation and I wish I personally knew someone that can do it.
6 sand animation unsure it was a very moving presentation. it showed how this women was able to draw incredible, beautiful things that had so much to say. even more incredibly she was able to do this in such a short amount of time with out a pen and paper, but on a blank slate filled with sand. i have never seen anyone so emotionally involved with their artwork before. with every movement she made you could see her love and involvement with what she does. this makes me appreciate art that much more because of the way the art not only affected the artist, but the audience as well. during some of the scenes she created everyone in the audience including the judging table in front had tears streaming down there face because of how powerful and meaningful her art was to them . i now am going to research more of this artists work because of how impressed i was with what she was able to create out of something so simple an item as sand and a blank slate. every move she made during her show was on point and elegant and could be repeated by no one but her. i was so amazed by her posture and display that i was taken aback. she was able to strike up a new interest in my life and for that i thank her and appreciate all that she has done.
7 sand animation Story of life At first I thought that the creativity of this way of epressing one's self was outstanding, yet as she went more and more in depth, I began to see the story she was trying to tell. The best way I can describe the way this hit me is that it completely blew my mind. One of the points that I really saw in the video was the beauty and preciousness of life. In the story these two individuals were in love; one of the greatest things this world has to offer. There is also a sense of irony throughout the story because towards the beginning we get a feeling of joy through the birth of a new baby. However, we then see the opposite side as this man's life is taken from him. The man's life being taken also made me feel as though this art and this story was also showing the ugly truth about war. While he is gone we do not see him at all, yet we see the pain and suffering of his loved one's. I learned that art can honestly be anything your mind or your soul can create. There are no limitations to art, and even the simplest object, such as sand can form such meaning greater than itself. I will never forget the story she told in the sand. The man, the woman, and the child all seemed to come to life in my head. I forgot I was looking at sand; all I saw was the love, the life, and the heartbreak the artist was trying to make us see. I highly enjoy open minded assignments such as these. I love having the opportunity to express myself just as the artist is doing so.
8 Kseniya Simonova - Sand Animation Documentary I was really interested in this video, sometimes when I watch a video in class I tend to doze off and day dream but this one kept my attention the whole time. I thought it was extremely impressive how she could go from one scene to another by just moving the sand with her fingers, one way or another, she could change the entire picture and control the audience. Also I liked how the music went along with every scene. This helped me appreciate art by making me look at it differently because now I can see how art can be just about anything. Anything and everything can be made into art. Even sand! Amazing in every way possible and it will catch the eye of almost anyone who watches it.
9 sand animations historical amazing, if i knew the history better than i probably would have cried like the people in the crowd how sand and a light table and a person with the talent and knowledge of the topic can transform it at such great speed and turnover to tell the story in such a short time art can be temporary like sand gardens that are changed all the time and can be permanent like oil paint on canvas, sculptures and mobiles that are less easily changed after being dried, polished and installed this artist is very talented and focused on the issue(s) that she "paints" for her audience in the sand
she must practice all the time to have gotten to the speed that she can finish a scene and change it into something completely different in just a moment
i like this artist and want to see more of her in the future/class

10 Sand Art art i enjoyed it, i thought it was cool that she could "paint" that fast using the sand. i was impressed by how fast and by how clear the images she created were, and how she incorporated music into her performance. i don't think the video will help me in making any art because i don't have a big light box to play with. but seeing her "paint" live gave me an appreciation for they type of art she was doing. i guess i could say that i liked the art, it was different and looked like it was hard to do, especially making it sync with the music. i feel like if was the artist it would be a little disheartening to wipe off and start making something new after creating something like that. i liked the video it didn't feel like an assignment to watch it but like something you would find while surfing on you tube or something.
11 Kseniya Simonova Sand Animation
I thought that this video was really cool. I was really shocked that all of those amazing paintings could be done just by using sand. I was really impressed
I learned that simple substances such as sand can be used to create beautiful pieces of art work I think that this video in general will have a lasting impression on me
12 Kseniya Simonova Sand Animation TV show part about sand painting It was amazing it's hard to put into words how much it made me feel. I really felt the anger and the sadness in some pieces and the happiness in others. How she could just turn one scene into another easily absolutely dumbfounded me; also how she just did it, she could just go in and make something amazing without having to go back and fix mistakes. It gives you a new view on art in general and really makes you focus on the emotions on the art and the different cultures ideas on art. I can't stop remembering all of it it's one of my new favorite types of art, it's so organic and amazing.
13 Sand Animation The video was of 1 woman performing her artistic abilities in a quick fashion on a foreign talent search competition show. The video evoked strong, passionate feelings of sadness from me, as the combination of the sad music and tragic pictures showed that the artist was trying to convey a feeling of sadness. One specific aspect of the video that impressed me was the point at which the 2 children were inside the building with 1 of them placing their hands on the widow, as if trying to reach out to the man outside the window (possibly their father?) but couldn't reach him. What I learned from the video helps me appreciate how difficult and how much skill and precision it really takes to make art. The artist's work is impeccably done for the speed at which it's made. The sad music is a large part of what's remaining in my head. I agree with the tragic feeling which the art evokes. I loved the video!
14 Sand Art this was a first hand documentary video. The work itself was historical in telling the story of her country. This video amazed me. Every move of her hand is planned out, swift, precise, and essential for the next scene she creates. This is truly an unbelievable talent that this women possesses. The way that the way she erased one picture and while she was doing this it was defining the next one was the most impressive. There was no wasted time or movement of her hand in that whole 8 minutes. It must have been choreographed perfectly and I can't imagine the time that was put into the final product. This definitely makes me appreciate art more. If I only saw the final product, and not the artists process, it wouldn't be half as impressive. Seeing how quickly and smooth her process is was the most impressive part. Don't get me wrong, the final piece is still amazing but the way she goes about creating it is an art in itself. This will make me think more about how artists go about creating a specific piece when I'm observing other pieces of art in the future. My general impression of the artist is that she is amazing. I can't believe I have never heard of this type of art, or seen it before. This should be more widely publicized and she better have won that competition. The questions that still sits with me, even after a couple days between the time that I first viewed the video, are how she learned she could do this and how much she has practiced? To be honest, the whole video was impressive. Awesome video. Would like to see more things like this in class.
15 Sand Animation
I found this video to be very intriguing and awe inspiring. Additionally, this video showed me the power of art and creativity. I have seen this type of art before. There is a guy in Union Square in Manhattan, named Joe, who makes these giant amazing colorful sand images in the square. So when you mentioned this was sand art I expected something similar, but this completely blew my mind. It's like she makes the sand breathe life. Each picture in itself is amazing but then once strung together in that order and set to music, it transcends sand and light and becomes a creative and emotionally moving entity. It was almost as if I were watching a really good dramatic movie. Just with the swipe of her hand she can turn an image of a war struck village into a tender moment with a mother, father, and child. Her impact on the audience was amazing as well. I was transfixed, but the audience was feeling and expressing the emotion exhibited in the pictures. Their tears showed how much art can affect a human being. First, I did not mention this earlier, the artist had so much passion as she was creating each scene. This shows that you must be committed and have a passion for the art that you want to create. Another thing that I learned was that any little thing can turn into art and beauty. Sand and light can create as breath taking art as paint or marble. This is a very talented and creative woman who can do great things with her gift. The thing that I can never forget is how she is able to manipulate the sand and the images with such ease. With a few strokes of her hand she turned the sand from a field to a war zone to a baby in a crib then an old lady, etc.
16 Kseniya Simonova Sand Animation Hostorical, it told a story of historical events of that particular country It was truly amazing how good and how quickly she changed the scene of the story with sand. I loved how it was going with the music and told a touching story. I didn't particularly understand the historical events she was refering to, although by the faces of the crowds and the tears that came to their eyes you could tell it was a detrimental part of their history. I was surpised at how quickly she adjusted the previous pictures and points into new ones. It was like she was telling a story with sand, and she did it very quick. I was impressed that she touched the crowd in a way that everyone was crying or had a tear in their eye. Her art really had an affect on the crowd. Seeing the faces of the crowd and their reaction to the presentation, really made me realize how much art can have an effect on people. It brought a lot of emotion and lasting impressions. It didn't only touch one person, but many individuals in the crowd. I thought this was very clever and particularly amazing. I was so impressed that she did that with sand, and it went with the music all telling a story. It was literally amazing. It was cool seeing how much it affected the crowd, and how it related to everyone. I would never be able to do that with sand in a million years, that's true talent right there.
17 Kseniya Simonova biographical It was an amazing piece of work. She is very talented. It told a story, that I really love; the music flowed with the drawings and it related to everyone in the audience. I learned about a war in swizerland and how it tore families apart. Her way of bring the dramatic side to a simple sand drawing.
18 Sand Animation historical This was amazing. She did a great job portraying emotion and effects of a war on the country. It was very touching. The fact that it was done in sand was very impressing!
The way it was done, so quick and efficient.
She knew exactly how to do it all and it came out perfectly.
you have to have passion in what you do. This woman definately loved what she was doing, and she was amazing!
Art can be simple, art can even be made in sand.
The way she drew the woman's face like it was being pulled by the wind, the baby in the crib, those were really sad moments, and you felt them with the music and with the display. I liked the way she displayed the change of time with the couple. It is a different way to view the effects of war, on people with emotions.
19 Sand Animation Performance I was very impressed with the style of this artist. The use of sand, to create images, was mesmorizing. Her talent is very unique, it affected me by opening my eyes to different ways to create art. A point that impressed me greatly was the speed in which she created the images. It was also fascinating how it was coordinated with the music so well. This video taught me that making art is not limited to paint, pencil, charcoal, etc. It can be created with sand on a light panel, and more. The artist left me a strong impression. The speed and power she exhibited when making the images linger in my head.
20 Sand Animation One artist drawing on a table with sand My impression of the video was i thought it was very cool how she used the sand to draw. I also liked how she went right from one drawing to the next and used the previous one to support the others. I liked how she didn't take time to stop and admire her work she just kept going. I liked the emotion she put into the work and the details that she used. Wiping away sand and adding more sand for greater detail. I learned that art doesn't have to be permanent or on a canvas to be considered art. The artist was very skilled and worked fairly fast and didn't make any mistakes.
21 Sand Animation Historical...in a sense It was an extremely moving piece. It had a wonderful flow to it, and some very stunning imagery for such a simple, no simple is not the right word, for such a rough form of art; Rough in the sense that the grain of sand is quite large, and making precise lines and also nice rounds rather difficult, however in this case she has nearly perfected the art form and everything fit perfectly in place from scene to scene.
I felt like the video, or rather the artist was trying to convey a sense of hope. I was getting a sense that even in times of war when things are in pieces and there is darkness and tragedy everywhere, that there is light at the end of the tunnel, that the sun will continue to rise each morning. And there will be time to heal and rebuild when it's all said and done. To never give up hope. As I said earlier the sun will come up in the morning. It is said that without suffering there can be no compassion, this was a time of great suffering, however the end of the piece inspired confidence and new life. The work was outstanding, the artist and her art are worthy of much more than a 10 minute TV appearance. I cant get the image of when Her significant other comes back from war, and the image of her son comes to life. It was an emotional roller coaster of a piece from start to finish Loved it, it bled emotion.
22 Kseniya Simonova - Sand Animation Documentary Very impressed by it in general. Never have thought someone can turn sand into that kind of amazing art and showing emotion with the combination of sand drawings and music. How sand can be used on a canvas as a wide range of things. In such a quick time and combination with music to set moods. How it even is possible that she made such detailed portrait in seconds. It showed me with anything and thought and emotion you can create amazing art. how quickly a canvas of sand turned into multiple vast works of art. Very cool video, more to come would be appreciated.
23 Sand Painting Historical I was extremely brought in by this video. I could not look away. It was amazing that someone could do that. I makes me wonder how they started doing it, like how did she realize she had that talent. The part that impressed me the most was how she never hesitated once during the whole performance to think about what she's going to next. Everything just flowed so nicely. Watching this video really made me appreciate how certain art is created. You could tell by how intense this woman was that she real loves and gets into her work. I can't stop thinking about how fast she worked and how she never hesitated. I was amazed at the whole performance and could help but have my friends watch it with me. I liked this assignment. This video was very impressive.
24 Kseniya Simonova Sand Animation primetime television/ variety show I thought it was very unique. I thought she did very well using an uncommon medium to make her art. I was impressed at the quality of the facial features at the artist's images of people. Watching this video helped open my mind to other forms of art that I had not thought about before. When I see an unusual type of art, I can appreciate it. I will remember this medium and appreciate that it could be very beautiful.
25 Sand Animation
I have never seen anything like this, and I really enjoyed watching it. The artists work left me speechless and kept me interested in the video. Overall I think that the video was really awesome. I think everything is this video impressed me, every picture she made or scene she created was so impressive in every way and I had never seen anything like it. This video showed me how truly talented this artist is at what she does, she even had people crying in the audience and I think that is spectacular. She should be very proud of her work and how talented she is. My lasting impressions are the same as I have felt through this whole review form, I really really enjoyed watching and studying how the artist can make such beautiful pictures with just sand.
26 Sand Animation cLip from tv show It was very moving, she was able to tell me different stories using sand, i even got a little emotional Her transitions are what impressed me the most, they were so smooth. I never knew you could make art with sand other than sand castles, this was definitely an eye opener and it was really an amazing thing to watch. I'm wondering what inspired her to make this kind of art, and what has she experienced any of the things that she draws.
27 Sand animation Performance It was very interesting and She has outrageous talent. She managed to make a story out of sand and a lighted table, and it seems like there is alot going on in each piece, very impressive to be bale to do this accurately. When She changed a group of objects into a a large face with one swipe and add a little bit of sand to reanimate the face was very impressive this video showed me a new and interesting form of art that I would want to see more of. what she managed to do with just sand is amazing, she didnt use any special tools to get a straight line or an exact shape, she learned with her hands to make the shapes she wants and mastered it to get the desired shape relatively the same every time. It was awesome
