You will use your camera in full automatic or program mode for this exercise.
Make sure your battery is charged.
Make sure you have room on your card or clean off your memory card (format)-
make sure any photos on it are backed up first.
Check the time and date settings on your camera
Set the quality setting of your camera to the best .jpg quality (sometimes referred to as fine)
If your camera doesn't have a program mode- set the ISO, Focus and White Balance to automatic

You will use the program or full auto mode for this first exercise.
Turn the camera flash OFF
GOAL: To become familiar with the camera in auto mode. To test it out in different locations and different lighting conditions to see how your camera performs. To start thinking about different ways to look at the world. To capture ordinary objects and locations in interesting ways. To get used to using your camera on a day-to-day basis. To take photos from angles and locations you might not ordinarily do. To have fun with the camera.
Use the camera in many different situations- locations and time of day
be bold and experimental. Use it indoors and outdoors, distant and close-up, natural light and artificial light, moving and still subjects. Give your camera a real workout.
DO NOT DELETE BAD PHOTOS-we will try to figure out why they didn't work
SHOOT AT LEAST 200 PHOTOS-
Look them over at home on your computer. Back them up at home if you can.
We will load them into your computer in class and evaluate them.¨
