Personal Exhibition
This is your opportunity to refine your work and share your own artistic vision.
Photographs can be strictly personal but most photographs are meant to be shared.
An artist creates work to impress, entertain and or enlighten the viewer.
Your images can be shared in many ways - posting, publishing and exhibiting.

Goal:
You will produce a collection of images similar to the groups of images found in a monograph publication like Light Work's Contact Sheet or in a gallery or museum show.
Images should relate to each other technically, formally and conceptually.
The collection of images will be presented in a sequenced presentation or organized as prints on a gallery wall.
The images will express an idea or concept that conveys meaning or experience to the viewer
The goal is to express your concept by using symbols and/or metaphor - not a literal illustration

Our society is made up of many different cultures, subcultures, and lifestyles.
We all have aspects of our lives that others might not be aware of.
For this project you are to express your personal artistic vision, your thoughts or impression of your world.

You will create a series of 4-6 images that relate to each other and express this vision or idea.

What is an Idea?
1. any conception existing in the mind as a result of mental understanding, awareness, or activity.
2. a thought, conception, or notion:
3. an impression:
4. an opinion, view, or belief:
5. a plan of action; an intention:
6. a groundless supposition; fantasy.
7.a philosophy.a concept developed by the mind, a conception of what is desirable or ought to be; ideal.

SUBJECT MATTER IS YOUR CHOICE-
THINK OF EXPRESSING YOURSELF THROUGH YOUR CHOICE OF SUBJECTS.

You should be familiar with your subject and have the accessibility to photograph your subject in depth and repeatedly.
This is a project about investigation and awareness.
You are the cultural observer, recorder, documenting your personal artistic vision.

INITIAL PROPOSAL FORM

You will shoot multiple sessions exposing many images.
You will print your final images for critique and/or present the project in a pdf presentation.
You will create a title for the total project.
You will create an artist statement for this work.

The complete statement will be on the on-line form.
A condensed artist statement will be the last slide in your presentation, or printed for display.

Consider sequence, flow and unity of design and content to strengthen your series.

Steps for completion of this assignment:

1) Consider your options and opportunities and create a written proposal using the online form.
Consult with the instructor to make sure this project will work for the class.

2) Shoot your first 100 or more images exploring your ideas- using techniques learned in class- be bold and creative.

4) Consult with instructor and classmates to develop strategies for completion.
You must have the first attempts evaluated before shooting the followup.

5) Start sequencing your images and do a first draft presentation.

Shoot more images- if you change your project fill out another proposal.

6) Produce the final presentation for critique in class.
Include an artist statement and title for the series.
