Sky Canoe

Nicks lake, ADK

A glorious Adirondack day, floating on a mirror smooth Nicks lake, surrounded by majestic clouds in every direction, above and below. in the Geodesic canoe I built.

Paul W. Pearce - Artist's Statement
I have escaped to the Adirondacks for most of my life. I have hiked trails and climbed mountains but it is on the water I find solace and peace. As a combat veteran I am exhausted by the state of our country and the world. At night I paddle on the still water, lay down on the bottom of the canoe and watch the stars. This Summer there were clusters of sunny, still days which were uncharacteristic and exceptional for the Adirondacks. It was as if I was given a gift of perfect weather to show me it I can find peace and everything can be good..
